Emergency Services

In an emergency, dial 9-1-1. You should be routed to Dauphin County 9-1-1 dispatch (even if you have an Elizabethtown or Palmyra phone number). This may not always happen, especially, on a cell phone. In addition to your street address (Hershey, Hummelstown, or Elizabethtown), advise that you reside in Conewago Township, Dauphin County.

Ambulance / EMS - Depending on where you live in the township, ambulance coverage could be from the following EMS units.
- University EMS - Dauphin County Co 4 - Operated by Hershey Medical Center, this EMS service has taken over the former Hershey Fire Co EMS, Palmyra (Citizen's) Fire Co EMS, and Hummelstown (Chemical) Fire Co EMS services. It provides coverage for part of the township. University EMS also operates Life Lion - Dauphin County Medic 91 - a helicopter ambulance.
- Northwest EMS - Elizabethtown - 361-8220, 380 W. Bainbridge St, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 (Lancaster County).
- Lawn EMS - 964-2369, 5596 Elizabethtown Rd, Lawn, PA 17041 (Lebanon County).
- Londonderry VFC EMS - 944-2175, 2655 Foxianna Road, Middletown, PA 17057 (Dauphin County).
- Lower Swatara provides ambulance coverage for I-76 (the Pennsylvania Turnpike) in the township (or used to).
Fire - There are no fire companies in Conewago Township. Fire coverage is provided by 5 volunteer companies in 3 counties. Volunteer companies are always looking for more volunteers.

- Conewago Twp - Zoning Officer enforces local ordinances (e.g. dog barking).

US Postal Service - Conewago Township does not have a Post Office. Years ago, it was home to Post Offices in Bachmanville and Deodate. Today, a few northwestern township residents on Church and Nye Roads have a Hummelstown (17036) zip code. Other residents in the northwestern (Laurel Woods) section, as well as in the northeast (Bachmanville) and east central township have a Hershey (17033) zip code. The rest have an Elizabethtown (17022) zip code.

Conewago Twp is responsible for road maintenance and snow removal on township roads.
PennDOT is responsible for road maintenance and snow removal on state roads.

Comcast Cable - offers standard cable television, digital cable, and high-speed internet service to parts of the township.

Gas - Residential natural gas service is not available in Conewago Township. Some residents use liquid propane.
Sewer / Septic - Most Conewago Township residents use septic systems. Sewer service started for the northwest part of the township in August 2004. It is provided by Derry Township Municipal Authority, 670 Clearwater Road, Hershey, PA 17033-2453, phone 717.566.3237 extension 301, Mrs. Kim Bloom. Water - Most Conewago residents use private water wells. Water service recently started for the new Hills of Waterford development and is being extended to part of the Laurel Woods area. This includes Laurel Drive, Woodbine, Primrose, Azalea and Dogwood. It is provided by Pennsylvania-American Water Company. Unlike the mandatory sewer hook-up, connection to water service is voluntary.
